Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College field hockey team was tripped up in its 2018 season opener by a 5-1 score at Immaculata on a rainy Friday afternoon in Draper Walsh Stadium.
With the Lions trailing 4-0 in the second half, Eve Miller got on the scoresheet in her collegiate debut with 20:40 remaining in the contest to bring Bryn Athyn (0-1) within three. Jamie Reynolds, who also made her collegiate debut from Bryn Athyn, assisted on the goal.
Willa Thompson produced the final margin when she scored off a penalty corner thanks to a pass from Macy Green at the 65:47 mark.
Brittany Richards, Layne Kennedy, and Colleen Bradley all scored the opening 19 minutes to give Immaculata (1-0) a 3-0 halftime advantage. Hilary Burkholder needed just 2:25 after halftime to extend the Mighty Mac lead to four at 37:25.
Shelly Drucker, a transfer from LIU Brooklyn, stood tall in the Bryn Athyn cage as she stopped a career-high 13 shots. Randie Kuhar saved the only shot on goal she face in the first half for Immaculata. Jackie Victor played the final 35 minutes in goal.
Bryn Athyn begins a string of five straight home matches on Tuesday, Sept. 4 against visiting Neumann University on General Ronald K. Nelson Field at 7 p.m.
