Lions defeated by Old Westbury, 4-0

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The Bryn Athyn College men's soccer team suffered a 4-0 non-conference defeat at the hands of host Old Westbury Saturday afternoon at Panther Park.

Peter Young opened the scoring for Old Westbury (1-3-0) with the first of his three first-half goals three minutes into the contest. Alexander Routledge sprung Young free with a through ball to earn the assist.

Edens Avril doubled the advantage at 5:25 as he scored for the top of the penalty area after receiving a pass from Ronald Monge.

Young tapped in a Monge cross from in close to notch his second goal of the game and extend the Old Westbury lead to 3-0 at 6:45. Young completed his hat trick at 35:49 when he headed home a corner kick taken by Matthew Strout.

Bryn Athyn (0-3-0) was forced to play with 10 in the second half as defender Abdul Sule was sent off right on the stroke of halftime. The Lions defense played well with only 10 as they held the Panthers off the scoreboard and didn't allow a shot on target.

Jacob Elder made two saves for Bryn Athyn in the loss.

The Lions have a quick turnaround for their next game which comes on Monday, Sept. 10 at immaculata at 6:30 p.m.
