Field hockey upended by Wilson in CSAC match

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College field hockey team suffered an 8-0 loss to visiting Wilson College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest Monday afternoon on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.

Bryn Athyn goalie Alisha Parnell stopped a career-high 11 shots. It was the first time she made at least 10 saves in a contest. She was helped out defensively with two defensive saves by Katherine Halle.

Wilson (5-7, 1-1 CSAC) broke the scoreless deadlock with a pair of goals 61 seconds apart to take a 2-0 lead. Breeann Sheaffer scored the first goal at 11:42 and Michaela Singer followed up with the first of her three goals at 12:43.

Singer scored for the second time 2:44 into the second quarter on a rebound after Parnell stopped a shot from Jenna Carty. Morgan Burkepile scored her first of the day just 24 seconds later. With 2:45 left in the half, Burkepile recorded her second goal of the quarter.

In the third quarter, Wilson scored all three of its goals in a 2:46 scored. Alexis Alleman started the third-quarter scoring 3:25 into the second half. Singer and Burkepile both completed their hat-tricks to complete the scoring.

Bryn Athyn (1-7, 0-2 CSAC) travels to Centenary (N.J.) for a CSAC clash on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m.
