Field hockey defeated by host Neumann

ASTON, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College field hockey team was defeated by host Neumann University, 7-0, in a non-conference contest Saturday afternoon.

Kailey Brower stood tall in the Bryn Athyn goal, making 11 saves. It was the fourth time in her career that Brower stopped double-digits shots in a match, and the second time she did it in consecutive games.

The Lions and Knights were scoreless for the opening 11 minutes, but then Neumann (2-1) scored three times in a 1:50 span to take a 3-0 lead. Sam Picker broke the deadlock at 11:04 when she put home the rebound of her first shot. Then, Nicole Turner and Julia Lee scored at 12:23 and 12:54, respectively.

Bri Lagroteria recorded both Neumann goals in the second quarter to increase the margin to five. Lagroteria completed her hat trick with 6:38 left in the third quarter. Picker scored Neumann's final goal just 31 seconds before the end of the third.

Bryn Athyn (0-2) heads to Doylestown on Friday, Sept. 13 to face Delaware Valley University at 4 p.m.
