Women's soccer wins first NCAA conference championship in school history

Punches ticket to NCAA tournament

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team had a theme all year. It was "Make History". They had an opportunity tonight to "Make History". The stage was set against the fourth seeded Cairn University Highlanders, and the Lady Lions delivered Bryn Athyn their first CSAC Championship in school history with a 2-0 win.

Inside the Box Score How it happened
  • There was palpable energy on the "Hill" for the CSAC Championship game
  • The Lady Lions fed off the energy and dominated the chances and possession early logging four shots in the first 17 minutes
  • Ashley Rivera scored what was ultimately the game winner on a breakaway to the left corner just under the 21st minute
  • Cairn responded with three chances of their own including a skipping shot that threatened
  • Lions would settle in and double the score when Ashley Rivera crossed the ball off a corner kick in a scrum and Allyson Paul poked it in to the back of the net
  • The Lions would play out the final seven minutes of the first half and take the 2-0 lead into the break
  • Cairn pressed the issue in the second half and had some threatening shots including one off the cross bar
