Women's basketball fall in overtime

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - A five point swing in overtime on a double foul swung the game for the Lions and into the Phoenix favor as the visitors escaped with a 61-56 win in overtime.

  • Junior, Terrae Lewis continues her strong play leading the Lions with 19 points and 8 rebounds
  • Kaylia Duncan was the second leading scorer with 9 points

How it happened
  • Wilson opened the game on a 5-0 run with a layup and one of their five three pointers on the day
  • Bryn Athyn settled in and outscored the Phoenix the remained of the quarter 8-5 to cut the deficit to 10-8 after one.
  • The Lions took their first lead of the game 4 minutes into the second quarter off a three point basket from senior Alisha McKnight. The Lions would lead 13-12.
  • The three would spark a 8-0 run and Bryn Athyn led 18-12 with 1:47 left to play in the half.
  • Wilson would cut the deficit to four and Bryn Athyn would go into half leading 20-16.
  • The second half was as evenly contested as the first, but the Lions clung onto a 1 point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
  • The fourth quarter the Lions made a push to put the game away taking a five point lead mid way through the quarter off a layup from Keziah Mitchell-Reyes to make the score 46-41.
  • Wilson would answer the bell to force overtime despite great shots from Duncan and Lewis.
  • At the end of regulation the score was tied 50-50. 
  • In overtime, Bryn Athyn and Wilson would not deter from the game flow.
  • With 1:49 the refs missed the bonus free throws off of an over the back call and allowed the game to play through resulting in another foul from Bryn Athyn. With the game stopped, the refs reversed the call giving Wilson four free throws with the game tied in consecutive shots. This gave Wilson the lead and they would not surrender it.
  • The final score 61-56 to the visitors
