Women's basketball stifled by Giants on the road

LA PLUME, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn women's basketball team traveled up to the preseason number one team in Keystone and were stifled by the score of 69-55.

  • Freshman, Reilly Ward knocked down four three-pointers on the way to a career high 16 points
  • Terrae Lewis and Norma Thornhill led the team in rebounding with 11 rebounds a piece
  • Senior guard, Alisha McKnight dished out 5 assists
How it happened
  • Bryn Athyn jumped out to an early 13-9 lead to win the first quarter
  • Keystone pounced early in the second quarter to cut the deficit and take 17-15 lead with 7:46 left in the quarter
  • Keystone would be able to build a 3 point lead heading into the break to be up 28-25.
  • Coming out of half, the Giants would open the quarter on a 6-2 run to build a 9 point lead with 8:03 left. 
  • Lions would answer with their own 4-0 run thanks to Keziah Mitchell-Reyes hitting a layup and knocking down two free throws
  • The Lions would cut Keystone lead down to 3 with 55 seconds left to play in the frame off a jumper from Ward to make the score 45-42
  • The Giants logged a free throw and layup in the final minute to extend the lead to 48-42.
  • Ward would open up the quarter with two threes and Aida Barry knocked down a three in consecutive possessions to bring the Lions a one point lead at 51-50 with 7:59 left.
  • Keystone would finish the game on 19-8 run to win the game
Analysis
  • Lions had great ball security with 15 turnovers and they forced Keystone in 19 turnovers
  • Keystone won the three point line 9-30 compared to Lions 6-19. 
  • Lions drop to 2-5 and 1-5 in CSAC play
