Women's soccer gets first win on the season in exciting fashion

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team tallied their first win on the season with an exciting double overtime victory by the score fo 5-4 over hosts Delaware Valley.

How it Happened

  • Delaware Valley scored a little over 90 seconds into the game on a shot from Kathleen Cairns to open the high scoring affair.
  • The Lions would score the next three goals of the match and eventually take a 3-1 lead into half.
  • Maria Storck got the Lions on the board at the 10 minute mark of the first half. 
  • Tori Titano doubled the score and made it 2-1 with seven minutes to go in the first half.
  • Lindsay Kinsky scored the final goal of the first half at 42:19.  
  • The Aggies would not go away quietly. The came out charged up in the second half to score three unanswered goals themselves on strikes from Rylee West and Serena Zilli twice.
  • With DelVal leading 4-3, insert Ashley Rivera. Rivera would tie the game at 4-4 to force overtime at the 76 minute mark. 
  • The game would stay knotted through the first overtime period, and after a delay in the game the second overtime started. 
  • Rivera would take a pass from Joseline Tlapaya and make a great individual strike to score the ball with a blast over the keeper's head and to give the Lions their first win of the season.

  • Aggies held a 19 to 13 advantage in shots over the Lions
  • The Lions improved to 1-1-1
