Women's soccer tie the Highlanders at home

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The Lady Lions tied the visiting Cairn Highlanders in conference play Wednesday night.

How it Happened

  • Freshman, Maria Storck got the Lions on the board first with a goal just under the 33:00 minute mark
  • The Lions would take a 1-0 lead into the break
  • The second half was a roller coaster for the Lions
  • Cairn knotted the game at 1-1 after a goal at the 64:14
  • Shea Gormley picked up a yellow card a minute later, but responded by scoring her first goal of her career at the 69:00 minute mark
  • A little over a minute later Storck scored her second goal of the game to give the Lions a commanding 3-1 lead. 
  • Gormley would pick up her second yellow as Cairn drew a penalty kick, which cut the lead to 3-2.
  • The Lions would be forced to play woman down the rest of the match. 
  • Senior captain, Payton Gormley, picked up her first yellow of the game shortly after the penalty goal
  • The Highlanders would tie the game with less than four minutes left on the clock. 
  • The teams would head into overtime with the score tied 3-3
  • Payton Gormley would pick up her second yellow late in the first overtime period forcing the Lions to play two women down.
  • The Lions would withstand a fury of chances from the Highlanders while creating a few of their own but the game would end in a draw 3-3.
