Women's basketball routes Eagles

BRYN ATHYN, PA – The Bryn Athyn Woman's basketball team dominated in their win over St. Elizabeth's on Friday, January 15th. The Lady Lions scored their second-most points in a single game by putting up 72 overall. Which left the lions with a 72-39 win over the Eagles.
 
Inside the Box Score:
  • Freshman, Reilly Ward led the Lions in scoring with 17 points. 12 of her points were scored off of three-point shots.
  • Freshman, Norma Thornhill follows her with 14 points scored. She also contributed 8 assists and 5 rebounds.
  • Juniors, Terraé Lewis and Kaylia Duncan joined in scoring double digits, having 12 points.
  • Junior, Keziah Mitchell-Reyes added 9 rebounds to help her team grasp the win.
 
How it Happened:
  • The visiting Eagles began the game strong by scoring 4 points in the first 3 minutes.
  • The Lions would then have an 11 point-scoring streak before the Eagles could score again with 2:40 left in the first quarter.
  • Bryn Athyn played a staggering offense in the first quarter, and it only continued to strengthen.
  • The Lions led the Eagles 21-10 at the first break.
  • The Eagles only managed to score 4 points in the second quarter with the help of the Lions' well-built defense.
  • The Lions led at the half with a score of 30-16.
  • Even though the Eagles managed to come out strong after half-time and score 13 points, the Lions came out stronger and scored 20, three of which were 3 point shots.
  • This ended the third quarter with the Lions up 50-29.
  • In the last quarter, the Lions stayed dialed-in and outscored the Eagles 22-10 to win the game 72-39.
 
Notes:
  • The Lions shot 83.3% from the free-throw line. They shot 100% for free throws in the second and fourth quarters.
  • Reilly Ward shoots for a season-high of 17 points scored in a single game.
  • The Lions' defense forced 27 turnovers from the Eagles, which ultimately led to the Eagles only scoring 23% from the field.
  • With this win, the Lions improve to 4-7 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

The Lions will travel to Rosemont College on Tuesday, January 18th at 7pm at Alumnae Hall in Bryn Mawr, Pa.
