Women's soccer magical season comes to an end in first round of the NCAA Tournament

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team made their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance this afternoon at #7 Carnegie Mellon University and played a competitive 80 minutes of soccer before running out of gas and losing 6-0

Inside the Box Score How it happened
  • The Lions and host CMU played a tight game for much of the first half
  • The Lions defense withstood a barrage of attacks from the Tartans with the mindset of bend, but don't break
  • Carnegie Mellon finally found the back of the net in the 37th minute and took a 1-0 lead into the break
  • Second half had a similar tune as the first. CMU attacked but the Lions handled their attacks with great poise. 
  • The Tartans would find the back of the net again to double their lead in the 62nd minute
  • With the score 2-0 and 10 minutes left, the flood gates opened and Carnegie Mellon managed to score four goals in the final 10 minutes
  • The final score was 6-0
Notes
  • The Lions end their season having led the CSAC in every offensive category while also having the top defense
  • The program rewrote the record books again with over 14 records broken
  • This was the final game in the red and white and Ashley Rivera, Kalie Soulsby, and Heather Kirlin
    • Rivera leaves the program as the all time goals, assists, and points leader and the best player in program history
