Women's basketball gets clipped by Saint Elizabeth

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team traveled to Saint Elizabeth on Wednesday night and fell 55-50.

  • Norma Thornhill and Terrae Lewis led Bryn Athyn in scoring with 12 points a piece
  • Kaylia Duncan nearly had a triple double with 9 points, 10 boards, and 7 assist
How it happened
  • Bryn Athyn jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead off three pointers from Reilly Ward and Alisha McKnight
  • SEU answered back with a 14-6 run to close the quarter and led by 2, 14-12 after one.
  • Saint Elizabeth took their biggest lead of the first half at the 8:37 mark off a layup to give the Eagles a 20-14 lead
  • The Lions turned up the pressure and outscored the Eagles by 11 the rest of the way and took a 30-25 lead into the break
  • The third quarter had the same tune as the first two with the teams exchanging buckets
  • Saint Elizabeth was able to erase the five point deficit and take a one point lead at 3:17
  • Lions would quickly regain the lead off a three pointer from Thornhill
  • Lions and Eagles would head into the fourth tied at 41
  • Bryn Athyn would build their biggest lead fo the fourth quarter off three from Duncan and free throw from Lewis to bring the score to 45-41
  • SEU would answer back and methodically erase the deficit and build a five point lead and garner the 55-50 win.
Notes
  • Lewis went 10-10 from the free throw line which is a program record for single game free throw percentage
  • The Lions were  -4 in the turnover battle (20:16)
  • The loss drops Bryn Athyn to 8-11 and 7-8 in CSAC play
  • Lions are currently the sixth seed in playoffs and have two matchups with the #1 seed Clarks Summit and one match up with Cedar Crest, who is on the outside looking in
