Women's Soccer secures signature win over Wilson

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The women's soccer team stepped up against previously undefeated Wilson, beating the conference rival 3-1.

Inside the Box Score
  • Shea Gormley was a two-way star on Saturday, scoring a goal and fortifying the back line defensively.
  • Allyson Paul had one of the best goals of the season.
  • Kayla Smith notched a goal as well, drawing Wilson's goalie out to the danger zone to make it happen.
  • Kira Bradley had the Midas touch this afternoon, finishing with two assists including a highlight-worthy one to Paul.
  • Ciara McFeely contributed an assist all the way from the corner.
How it Happened
  • Tense would be a mild descriptor of this game. Both teams knew what was at stake (home field advantage for the playoffs), and played with an edge.
  • Wilson drew first blood in the 11th minute.
  • Bryn Athyn was quick to respond, as McFeely got it to Gormley in the 13th to even the score.
  • The rest of the opening period was akin to the first 10 minutes: physical and evenly matched.
  • The grappling ramped up in the second half as both teams understood the stakes.
  • Bradley came alive at the right time, dropping dimes to Paul (62nd minute) and Smith (68th) to put the Lady Lions in the driver's seat.
  • The match would end 3-1 in favor of Bryn Athyn.
