Women's Soccer completes three-peat

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The women's soccer team secured the United East Skye Division title on Thursday, defeating Cairn 2-0 in the Divisional Final.

Inside the Box Score
  • Kayla Smith was a hero off the bench for Bryn Athyn, breaking the team's playoff dry spell with a goal.
  • Kira Bradley scored the team's second goal and totaled two shots.
  • Allyson Paul played a part in both goals, directly assisting on Bradley's and indirectly assisting on Smith's.
  • Chloe Munyon logged four saves and extinguished countless fires in net.
How it Happened
  • The Skye Chip was physical and intense.Wherever the ball went, hard contact followed.
  • Bryn Athyn was unable to break through Cairn's defense for the majority of the match. BAC's stars were kept under control, and CRN packed it in as much as possible when someone else had the ball.
  • The shot disparity favored the Lions in the first half (9-2), but none of them went in, and many were low-percentage prayers anyway.
  • After 45 minutes, the game was still scoreless.
  • Physicality ramped up even more in the second half as both teams saw the opportunity in front of them. It did not go unregulated, either; four yellow cards were doled out.
  • Smith gave the Lions the lead in the 55th minute in the scrum that followed one of Paul's shots.
  • Cairn played with more urgency after this, which led to some more pressure on the Lions' defense, but ultimately led to more breakdowns from the Highlanders.
  • Paul got an actual assist to Bradley, putting the home team up 2-0 for good.
Notes
  • Bryn Athyn outshot Cairn 10-4 on goal.
  • This is the third straight Skye Division (formerly CSAC) championship for the Lions.
Up Next
  • Bryn Athyn travels to Penn State Berks on Sunday, November 5th at 1:00pm for the United East Conference Championship.
