Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Lions edged out by Eagles

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The women's basketball team had a huge conference win in its grasp, but ultimately fell to Saint Elizabeth 58-53.

Inside the Box Score
  • Zhymani Smith overcame a cold shooting night on her way to 15 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists.
  • Kaylia Duncan amassed 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 free throws made.
  • Amber Souffrant corralled 12 rebounds.
How it Happened
  • Very little offense came of the early phases. The score was tied at 8 after the first quarter.
  • Bryn Athyn built a 5-point lead late in the second, but gave up a frustrating transition layup as time expired to cut it to 3.
  • Lady Lions seemed to be in control in the third, constructing a 12-point lead going into the final frame.
  • Unfortunately that gap thinned in the fourth, partially because of great Eagles execution, but also due to a dry spell from the Lions' offense.
Notes
  • Bryn Athyn assists on just 8 made baskets on Saturday, with 7 coming from Smith.
  • Lady Lions are now 3-1 in United East play.
Up Next
  • Women's Basketball travels to Madison, N.J. for a showdown with FDU-Florham on Wednesday, December 13th at 7:00pm.
