Bill O'Neill, who is also the head coach for the Lions' men's and women's soccer teams, serves as the Associate Director of Athletics for Operations.
Before coming to Bryn Athyn, O’Neill spent three years as the assistant men’s soccer coach at Division II Holy Family. The Tigers had a 19-26-9 overall and made two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournaments during that three-year span.
O'Neill is a member of the Southeastern PA Soccer Hall of Fame after an illustrious playing career that included honors at George Washington High School and Rowan University.
At George Washington High School, O'Neill won the 1985 and 1987 Philadelphia Public League championship. In his senior year, O'Neill was the team captain, the City Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Public League and All-Scholastic. In his four-year career at Rowan University, O'Neill was named All-New Jersey Athletic Conference every year (1987 - honorable mention, 1988 - third team, 1989 - second team, 1990 - first team) and All-Region in 1989 (third team) and 1990 (second team). O'Neill--a team captain in 1989 and 1990--played in three NCAA Tournaments (1987, 1988, 1990) and won the NCAA Division III championship in 1990.
His playing career continued after college in the professional ranks, where he played for the Philadelphia Freedom of the United States Interregional Soccer League.
O'Neill graduated Magna Cum Laude from Eastern University with a bachelor of science degree in early, elementary and special education.
