Cherwony was a former adjunct undergraduate instructor at Temple University for twelve years and at Neumann University for two years. He is currently an adjunct graduate instructor at Thomas Jefferson University where he has been teaching for ten years. He was the Athletic Trainer for Cinnaminson High School for 35 years and the Assistant Athletic Director for 26 years. Along with high school and college athletes he has also worked with professional teams. These include Philadelphia Stars of the original United States Football League (USFL), National Lacrosse League (NLL, indoor lacrosse), Philadelphia Wings, New England Black Wolves, Philadelphia Wings, Albany Fire Wolves, and the Professional Lacrosse League (PLL, outdoor lacrosse). Cherwony has been recognized for his outstanding contributions during his career in the sports medicine field. He has been given the National Athletic Trainers Association Service Award, the Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey (ATSNJ) Distinguished Service Award and was inducted into both the New Jersey State Interscholastic Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the Cinnaminson High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
