Travis Ponton, who also is the head coach of the women's basketball team, has the role of Director of Compliance.
Before coming to Bryn Athyn, Ponton had extensive experience across NCAA Division I and NAIA with stops at LIU Brooklyn, Loyola University in New Orleans, Charleston Southern, Southeastern Louisiana, and Mount St. Mary's (Md).
Ponton began his coaching career at the high school level at various schools in Virginia. During a five-year stretch, Ponton was an assistant girl's basketball coach at Colonial Heights High School, Cosby High School, and Radford High School.
Outside of coaching, Ponton has worked with Blue Star Media—a national, unbiased resource for girls' basketball recruiting coverage and beyond—in Philadelphia as a national evaluator, writer, and camp coordinator from 2016 until 2018.
An up-and-comer in the women's basketball coaching world, Ponton was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Thirty Under 30 Award List in 2018. The award recognizes women's basketball coaches under the age of 30 who have exemplified their involvement in community service, mentorship, professional manner, and professional association involvement. He has also been a panelist at the WBCA Convention, which is held annually at the NCAA Women's Final Four.
Ponton graduated from Radford University in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in media studies and is currently working on a master's in physical education and exercise science at Virginia Commonwealth University.
