Box Score Bryn Athyn, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's volleyball team defeated cross-town rival PSU-Abington 3-0 in Thursday night action.
Before the start of the game, Bryn Athyn Athletics honored their three senior volleyball players, Holly Adams, Cree Gurney and Cathleen Curran for their years of commitment and dedication to the program.
The scores where, 28-26, 25-13, 25-23.
Kaitlyn Brock led the Lions with nine kills, 13 digs and one block solo. Cree Gurney added six kills, three digs and one service ace. Cathleen Curran led the defense with 12 digs and one service ace. Holly Adams notched six digs and one service ace. Haley Schmucker put up 19 assists and six digs.
The Lions took the first set, after trailing late in the game 21-19. Led by their high power offense, Bryn Athyn tied the game three times till 26-26. Two errors by PSU-Abington secured the first set for the Lions.
Bryn Athyn got to a quick 9-3 lead in the second set, led by blocks in the front line and service aces. Nittany Lions tried to chip away at the Bryn Athyn lead, but was kept at 20-11. Bryn Athyn won the next five points to take the second set and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Both teams exchanged points in the third set and tied seven times till the match was at 21-21. PSU would make three straight errors after time outs to give the Lions 24-22 lead. The Nittany Lions took another time out to slow down the Bryn Athyn momentum, but a service error made at the end, gave the Lions the third set and the match.
Bryn Athyn finished the year 18-8 and end the season on a 11 game win streak. They remained undefeated in the month of October with 9 straight wins.
