Women's Volleyball Goes 2-0 at their Home Tri-Match

Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College women's volleyball team improved to a 9-8 record, defeating the College of Staten Island and Christendom in Saturday afternoon tri-match action.

Bryn Athyn defeated Staten Island 25-9, 25-12, and 25-21. During set one, after a first point side out, Cree Gurney served 16 consecutive points, lifting the Lions to a 17-0 lead. Gurney also notched five kills, seven digs, and five service aces. Kaitlyn Brock recorded a double-double, adding 13 kills and 12 digs. Haley Schmucker dished out 26 assists and 15 digs, while Kelsey Kowalick had 10 digs. The Lions held Staten Island to a .098 hitting percentage.

In game two of the tri-match, Bryn Athyn defeated Christendom for the second time this season, 25-14, 25-18 and 25-17. Brock led the team with 11 kills and 10 digs. Gurney added 13 digs and four service aces. Taylor Davis notched four kills and three blocks. Schmucker had 16 assists and 10 digs, while Cathleen Curran recorded 12 digs.

Eden Zecher expressed, "I'm proud of the team for cutting down on our service errors. We played smart today and had fun."

Coach Kozar added, "Despite injuries, we showed the true depth of our lineup, as we came away with two crucial wins."

The Lions return to the court to face College of St. Elizabeth Tuesday, October 1st. First serve is set for 7:00pm.
