Men's Lacrosse Suffers a Tough Loss in Triple OT to Alvernia 12-11 at Home

Box Score

Bryn Athyn, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn men's lacrosse team played their second home game of the season against non-conference opponent Alvernia in the cold and rain.

Kieran Ragan led the lion's offense with five goals.  Travis McCurdy followed up with three goals and an assist.  Terrence Johnson contributed a goal and an assist.  Mike Donnelly and Nick Fetko each notched one goal.

McCurdy scored the game's first goal just 21 seconds in, winning a faceoff and outrunning the Alvernia defender.  Not long after Fetko would notch his goal assisted by Luke Frazier.  Bryn Athyn would get its third unanswered goal from the stick of Johnson.  With under 5 minutes to play Alvernia would finally get on the board and then 4 minutes later they would strike again to end the quarter.  The second quarter saw Kieran Ragan score three of his five goals and had Donnelly put home is goal.  Once again Alvernia would score late in the quarter.

The beginning of the second half would bring with it a flurry of Alvernia goals allowing them to take the lead.  From here on out it was a back and forth affair with McCurdy putting home the game tying goal with just 37 seconds left.  The first and second overtimes would prove eventful with both teams trading chances.  In the third overtime the game would be ended on a man down situation with Alvernia edging out the Lions.

Robert Moran would stand strong in the pipes for the lions with 19 saves.

The Lion's return to action on Saturday at 12 against Hood College.
