Strong Fourth Quarter Lifts Men's Lacrosse Over Alvernia

Bryn Athyn, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's lacrosse team defeated Alvernia University, 15-11, Saturday in non conference action on the road.

Connor Buick led the Lions with five goals and one assist. Nolan Frame put in three goals and one assist. Quintin Harrish scored three goals.  Andrew Coyle added one goal.  Travis McCurdy and Ryan Landels scored one goal each.

The Crusaders scored first at 13:50, after a turnover by the Lions, to take a quick lead.  Bryn Athyn answered with a goal 30 seconds later by Quintin Harrish, after Travis McCurdy won the faceoff to tie the game at 1-1.  Frame scored a few seconds later, assisted by Buick, who won the face off and passed it for the goal.  The Lions kept their offensive pressure, scoring at 8:10 after a Crusader turnover in the defensive zone to build their lead to 3-1.  Buick scored the third Bryn Athyn unanswered goal with 4:30 left in the first to build the lead to 4-1.  Alvernia scored to goals within a minute to chip away at the Bryn Athyn lead.  Landels scored off a faceoff win at 2:37, to take the Lions into the first period break with a 5-3 lead.

Off an Alvernia timeout, the Crusaders scored to bring the game within one goal at 11:38 of the second period.  Quintin Harrish answered with a goal by the Lions at 6:20 to help rebuild their lead, off a Crusader turnover from a failed clear attempt.  Three minutes later, Alvernia brought the game back to within one goal, off a Lion turnover. Bryn Athyn answered with a goal at 2:29 by Frame on a Crusader penalty to give the Lions 7-5 lead going into halftime. 

Bryn Athyn took control early in the third period scoring goals within the first three minutes to extend their lead to 9-5 at 12:21.  The Crusaders picked up their offensive presence; scoring three unanswered goals to bring the game back within one, 9-8 with 8:55 left in the period.  Bryn Athyn scored at 5:42, after the Lions light up the offensive zone with shots to rebuild their lead.  Alvernia went on a late scoring spree to tie the game at 10-10 heading into the fourth period.

The Lions retook control of the game, scoring five unanswered goals to win the game 15-11 and earn their third win of the season.  

Robert Moran made 12 saves in net for the Lions in the win.
