Box Score 2 Bryn Athyn, Pa – The Bryn Athyn College women's volleyball team fell at home to Rutgers Newark and Kings College in a Tri Match at Bryn Athyn College.
The scores against Rutgers Newark (7-0) was 3-1 (27-25, 14-25, 18-25, 23-25, ) and Kings College (7-0) was 3-0 (17-25, 19-25, 21-25).
In the first match against Rutgers Newark, The Lions took the first set, but the Scarlet Raiders took the next 2 sets. In the 4th set, The Lions and Scarlet Raiders traded points with the Lions never giving up, but in the end the Scarlet Raiders pulled out the 25-23 win securing the match and staying undefeated. The Lions were led offensively by Alexa Kennedy with 13 kills, Taylor Davis with 8 kills and Abi Anderson with 7 kills. Jeni Bauer (8 digs) and Sam Hicks (9 digs) held off the potent Scarlet Raiders offense throughout the match.
In the second match against King's College, the Lions were faced with a King College team that just beat the Scarlet Raiders, staying undefeated for the season. The match was an uphill battle throughout for the Lions, but the Lions kept battling to try and take down the Monarchs. In the end the Monarchs proved to be too much for the Lions and swept the Lions 3-0. The Lions were again led offensively by Alexa Kennedy ( 12 kills) and Taylor Davis (8 kills).
The Lions are back in action this Wednesday September 16th as they face Gwynedd Mercy University at Asplundh Field House at 7:00 PM.
