How It Happened:

In the final game of the 2016 season, Bryn Athyn College faced Cairn University for the third time and came away with a 3-1 victory over the Highlanders. Tonight's match also recognized two seniors, Taylor Davis and Catherine Kirk, as they wrapped up their volleyball collegiate career with the Lions in the senior night proceeding. In the first set, the Highlanders jumped out to an early 2-1 lead with two kills and an error. It did not take long for the Lions to overcome early errors and take over the game to cruise to a 25-17 win. In the second set, the Highlanders never trailed as a 15-7 kill advantage overwhelmed the Lions and the 25-14 victory favored the visitor. In the third set, both teams came wire-to-wire until a 17-17 stalemate. From there, a Highlander error, a service ace from Sam Hicks, and a solo block by Davis helped the Lions take a 20-17 lead that forced Cairn University to call a time out. Adding two more kills, service aces, and an attack error from the Highlanders, the Lions earned a 25-17 set win and a 2-1 match lead. In the fourth set, both team battled closely again that saw an 11-11 tie and a slim 21-19 lead for the Lions. After that point, Kirk assisted Amber Wood  for a kill before Davis followed up with her own point for a 23-19 advantage. Following an error from the Highlanders, it was Kirk who delivered one last time with a kill that wrapped up the 25-19 set and 3-1 match victory. 

Lions' Top Performers

   * Davis finished with game high 14 kills while also earning an assist, a dig, and two solo blocks.
   * Kirk had team high 31 assists, while picking up 10 digs and five kills. 

   * Alexis Juristch, Hicks, and Wood finished with 19, 15, 11 digs respectively on defense.

Highlanders Top Performers:  

   * Haley Sheehan finished with 11 kills and 10 digs.

   * Liz White dished out game high 32 assists.

   * Ashley Wharton picked up team high 16 digs followed by Brie Norton and Ashley Chamberlin with 11 digs each.

Stats of the Game: 

   * Lions finished with 41 kills, 38 assists, and 63 digs.

   * Highlanders finished with 35 kills, 34 assists, and 57 digs.
