Strong Fourth Quarter Push By Men's Lacrosse Tops Delaware Valley, 10-8

Bryn Athyn, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's lacrosse team hosted Delaware Valley in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon. The Lions overcame a four-goal deficit, to battle back to beat Delaware Valley 10-8.  

Nolan Frame led the Lions with four goals.  Luke Frazier added three goals and one assist.  Andrew Coyle put in one goal and notched three assists.  Ryan Landels and Jesse Frazier had a goal and an assist each.  Travis McCurdy led the defense with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Head Coach Tucker Durkin expressed," I'm really proud of the way the guys competed today. We certainly didn't play perfect, but we found a way to win. It would have been easy for us to let down in the third quarter when we went down 8-3. No one panicked and everyone stayed the course. Hats off the Delaware Valley who is a very talented team, and also very well coached."

The Aggies got on the board first, after wining the faceoff and scored eight seconds into the game.  They kept their offensive pressure, scoring two more goals at 12:03 and 3:50 to take an early 3-0 lead.  Luke Frazier put the Lions on the board, 3-1, off a pass from Coyle with 1:22 left in the first quarter. 

Delaware Valley expanded on their lead in the second quarter, scoring two minutes into the period.  20 seconds later, the Aggies scored to build a 5-1 lead, after the Lions took a penalty. Robert Moran made a save on the defensive end for Bryn Athyn, he passed the ball to Connor Buick, who cleared it for the Lions. Buick passed the ball to Coyle, left side of the cage and beat the goalie to chip at the Aggies lead to 5-2 at the 11:10 mark.  Delaware scored with 4:37 left in the second quarter to take a 6-2 lead into halftime.

Frame scored to start the third period, beating the goalie top left, off a pass from Coyle on the right side of the offensive zone at 14:16.  A minute later, the Aggies answered with a goal of their won to retake a four-goal lead, 7-3.  After regaining possession of a loose ball midfield, the Lions cycled the ball in the offensive zone, till Jesse Frazier ripped a shot and was saved by the Aggies.  The Lions would win the possession of the ball behind the net, Luke Frazier passed the ball to Jesse Frazier on the left side of the cage, beat the goalie to chip at the 7-4 Delaware Valley lead with 8:20 left in the period.  Delaware kept their lead, scoring at 7:22 to take extend their lead to four goals, 8-4.  Frame answered with for the Lions with two back to back goals to end the third period. After a clearing error by Delaware Valley, the Lions moved on the ball into the offensive on a fast break and Frame score with 6:32 left on the clock, off a pass from Luke Frazier.  With less the than two minutes left in the period, the Lions picked up a ground ball midfield, and passed it to Frame, who was open low in the crease and beat the goalie five hole, to keep the Lions within two goals to end the period.

Bryn Athyn exploded on the offensively, scoring four unanswered goals to take a 10-8 win.  The Lions outshot the Aggies, 17-3 in the fourth quarter and defensively picked up 11 ground balls to the Aggies' five. . Luke Frazier led Bryn Athyn with two goals and Landels who scored the game-winning goal with 6:20 left in the game.  Nolan Frame scored an insurance goal with six second left in the game.

Robert Moran made 13 saves and picked up eight ground balls in, net for the Lions.  

Moran said," It was a great team win. We started out slow but really came together at half time and played the game we knew we could play. It was a great effort and we are excited to build on it going forward in the season."
