Box Score Wyndmoor, PA – The men's lacrosse team hosted Wells today at LaSalle College High School in Wyndmoor, Pa. on Sunday afternoon. A scoring barrage in the second quarter propelled the Lions to the 18-7 win over Wells.
The Lions game today was moved to Lasalle College High School, after the rough weather from Saturday. The change in venue did not seem to affect the Lions in any way. Bryn Athyn opened up the scoring 30 seconds of the first quarter when Travis McCurdy fed a pass to Nolan Frame, who beat the Well's keeper to put the Lions up 1-0. McCurdy then scored a goal of his own on a pass from Jesse Frazier to go up 2-0. Wells would add a goal late in the quarter to make the score 2-1 in favor of the Lions at the end of one.
The floodgates opened up for the Lions in the second quarter outscoring Wells 7-1. Frame started the scoring with an unassisted goal. Connor Buick, Ryan Landels, and Andrew Coyle both scored two goals each for the Lions. The Lions outshot Wells 14-5 in the second, caused eight turnovers, and accumulated 11 ground balls. Bryn Athyn went into halftime with the 9-2 lead.
The third quarter saw more of the same from the Lions. After Wells scored an early goal in the quarter, Bryn Athyn went on to put up five more goals led by Coyle with two goals. The Lions held a 14-5 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Bryn Athyn did not let off the pedal as Frame opened up the scoring with an unassisted goal 45 seconds into the fourth. From there the Lions would not allow Wells cut into the significant lead throughout the quarter. The Lions goalkeeper Robert Moran only had to make two saves during the fourth, due the Lions in front of him shutting down the Wells attack. Bryn Athyn went on to close out the game with two more unassisted goals by Frame to shut the door on the 18-7 victory.
The Lions dominating performance was led by Frame with six goals, one assist and nine shots on goal. Coyle and Landels scored four goals apiece on the day. The Lions goalkeeper Moran made 11 saves on 18 shots.
The Lions move to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the NEAC. The Lions are back in action on Friday, April 15th as they travel to take on Hilbert in a NEAC match up.
