Lions Edge Hilbert 5-4 in NEAC Action

Hamburg, NY. - The Bryn Athyn College men's lacrosse team traveled to Hilbert College, to take on the Hawks in NEAC action Friday afternoon. The Lions edged the Hawks 5-4 in a defensive battle.

The Lions found themselves down in the first quarter 2-1. Bryn Athyn's only goal came from Nolan Frame, which was unassisted at the 9:20 mark. Hilbert outshot Bryn Athyn 12-8, with the Lions goalkeeper Robert Moran making five saves. 

The second quarter saw the Lions go down 4-2. Bryn Athyn truly was tested on the defensive side as they were outshot 15-7 in the second with Moran making five saves again. The Lions' Connor Buick scored an unassisted goal with 1:56 left in the half.

Bryn Athyn then picked it up on the offensive side in the third quarter, scoring three unanswered goals. Jesse Frazier put the Lions within one when he scored an unassisted goal at the 12-minute mark.  Ryan Landels took a pass from Andrew Coyle to tie the score 4-4 at the 10:28 mark. With 3:21 left in the third Landels put Bryn Athyn ahead 5-4 with an unassisted goal.

The fourth quarter saw the Lions keep the Hawks off the scoreboard, keeping them scoreless throughout the quarter. Bryn Athyn was able to hold on to their one-goal lead and win the game 5-4.

Bryn Athyn was led by Landels with two goals on four shots and picked up two ground balls. Frame and Frazier scored one goal and picked up four ground balls each.  Buick notched one goal in the win. Moran made 19 saves on 23 shots.

The Lions move to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the NEAC. The Lions stay up North for their next game as they travel to Medaille in a conference game on Sunday, April 17th.
