Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – Three goals in the final 16 minutes lifted the Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Gallaudet University in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener Saturday evening on Hotchkiss Field.
Bryn Athyn's leading scorer Shelby Puccio drew the Lions even at one when she recorded her ninth goal of the season at the 74:20 mark. Puccio received a pass from Shauna Breen and then snuck her shot inside the left post. She is now tied for the NEAC lead in goals.
Just over two-and-half minutes later, Kristen White came through with the go-ahead goal to put the Lions (5-1, 1-0 NEAC) in front 2-1. White scored her fourth goal of the season after breaking free from the Gallaudet (4-2, 0-1 NEAC) defense thanks to a feed from Lyss Bosler and then putting the ball into an open net.
Janalene Philips tacked on an insurance goal, her third of 2017, with 6:36 left in regulation and she headed in a White crossing pass at the right post. The assist is White's conference-leading seventh.
Allie Warren, the back-to-back NEAC defensive player of the week, gave the Lions another strong performance in goal, stopping seven shots.
Gallaudet's Sabina Shysh broke the scoreless deadlock just 40 seconds after halftime, driving home a Hailey Montoya crossing pass. Silvya Levesque made eight saves.
Bryn Athyn returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Penn State-Abington at 4 p.m.
