Women's soccer wins at Penn State Abington, 2-0

Box Score

ABINGTON, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team picked up its second straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) road win after knocking off conference rival Penn State Abington 2-0 Tuesday afternoon on Memorial Field.

The Nittany Lions (2-5, 1-1 NEAC) controlled the match during the opening eight minutes, firing three shots at the Lion net. Then, against the run of play, Bryn Athyn earned a corner kick at the 12:12 mark. Kristen White whipped the ball into the box where it would bounce and deflect into the Abington net off the back of Shauna Breen. It was Breen's first goal of 2017.

After going into the half up 1-0, Bryn Athyn needed only 2:55 into the second half to increase the advantage to two.

Shelby Puccio broke free from the Abington defense and sprinted down the right sideline. She turned in and forced Nittany Lion keeper Samantha Friend off her line. As Friend charged out, Puccio centered the ball to a wide-open Rose Glass at the edge of the penalty area. Glass simply shot the ball into the vacant net for her fourth goal.

Allie Warren notched her sixth victory of the season, fourth via shutout, by stopping five Abington shots.

Friend had four saves for the Nittany Lions.

Bryn Athyn (6-1, 2-0 NEAC) returns to General Ronald K. Nelson Field to host Wilson College in a NEAC showdown on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m.
