Puccio nets four as women's soccer defeats Wilson 6-1

Box Score

BRYN ATHYN, Pa, -- Forward Shelby Puccio scored a program-record four goals, including the game-winner, as the Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team stayed perfect in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play with a 6-1 triumph over Wilson College Saturday evening on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.

The Lions extended their winning streak to four matches, the longest in program history, as they improve to 7-1-0 overall and 3-0-0 against the NEAC. Bryn Athyn is one of two teams to have a perfect conference record. The seven victories match last season's win total.

Puccio—the NEAC leader in scoring with 13 goals—needed just 15 seconds to get the Lions on the board with an easy tap-in goal after making a long sprint down the right wing. She struck again 1:35 later, scoring off of a rebound after her initial shot attempt was blocked by a Phoenix defender.

Kristen White made it 3-0 at the 4:44 mark with her fifth goal of the season on a shot from the right wing that found the bottom right corner of the net.

Jasmine Bankert recorded Wilson's (0-9-0, 0-3-0 NEAC) goal with 4:26 left in the opening half from inside the 6-yard box.

Puccio restored Bryn Athyn's three-goal advantage 3:24 into the second half as she ripped a shot from just outside the penalty area that ricocheted off the crossbar and dropped on the right side of the goal line. She completed her four-goal effort at the 62:02 mark from just inside the penalty area.

Rose Glass closed out the scored 2:43 after Puccio's fourth goal with a shot from 20 yards away that found its way inside the right post.

Bryn Athyn's Allie Warren and Wilson's Danielle Stafford both made two saves for their respective teams. The Lions owned a 24-5 shot advantage.

Bryn Athyn heads to Cazenovia for a NEAC match on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m.
