PHILADELPHIA – The Bryn Athyn College women's tennis had its 2019 season come to an end with a 5-0 loss to Cairn University in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal round Saturday morning in the Legacy Youth Tennis Education Center.
Cairn jumped out to a 3-0 victory by claiming all three doubles matches. Alair Brock and Maia Wyncoll were upended in their No. 2 match, 8-0, and Christine Daum and Anwyn Brock suffered an 8-3 loss at No. 3 doubles. In the closest of the three doubles matches, the No. 1 team of Marie Daum and Nora Connelly were edged out by Allyssa Peters and Maya Neal, 8-6.
The Highlanders moved within a point of the match when Bianca Birney defeated Connelly at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0. Ellie Santos clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Anwyn Brock at No. 6 singles.
At the time the match was concluded, Christine Daum was winning her No. 3 singles match against Maya Neal 6-3, 3-2.
Bryn Athyn ends the season at 3-8.
