BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Mike Perkett scored the Bryn Athyn College men's lacrosse team's first goal of the 2020 season as the Lions dropped its home-opener, 16-1, to Albright in a non-conference tilt Saturday night on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.
Perkett put Bryn Athyn (0-2) on the board with the first goal of the second quarter to cut the Albright (1-2) to 6-1 with 8:08 left in the half. Owen Ovecka sprinted down the right alley and then delivered a centering pass to Perkett, who ripped a shot that beat Albright goalie Liam Ferry.
Cole Genneken was Albright's top player as he racked up six goals, one assist, two ground balls, and one caused turnover. John Gilbert (three goals), Alex McKendry (two goals, one assist), and Jacob Cunningham (one goal, two assists) all had three-point evenings.
Albright, led by all three Gilbert goals and two goals from Genneken, jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the opening 15 minutes. After Perkett's goal, Genneken scored twice more and Cunningham added his goal to make it a 9-1 game at the half.
In the second half, Albright scored three times in the third and four times in the fourth.
Albright was 4-for-8 in man-up situations, while Bryn Athyn went 0-for-8.
Wyatt King made his first collegiate start in goal for Bryn Athyn and made 16 saves. Ferry and Ethan Hinman each made one save in their respective 30 minutes of action.
Bryn Athyn goes back on the road to face FDU-Florham on Wednesday, March 4 at 7 p.m.
