Lions drop road contest to FDU Florham

MADISON, N.J. – The Bryn Athyn College men's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference road game to FDU-Florham, 20-4, on Robert T. Sheilds Field Wednesday night.

Mike Perkett scored a pair of second-half goals to lead the Bryn Athyn offense, while Dan Condon got the Lions on the board with his first goal of the season. Tim Ragan, playing in his first collegiate game, scored his first career goal in the fourth quarter.

In addition to scored his first goal this year, Condon went 12-of-25 at the faceoff X and picked up three ground balls. Michael Varley led the team with five ground balls and one caused turnover. Owen Ovecka contributed four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The Devils (1-3) outshot the Lions 11-2 in the opening quarter as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead with goals by four different players. FDU Florham extended its lead to 8-0 before Condon found the back of the net with 4:04 remaining in the first half. Michael Stewart—who scored three of his game-high four goals in the second quarter—scored two of the Devils' final three second-quarter scores to help make the score 11-1 at the half.

After FDU-Florham recorded the first three goals of the third, Perkett scored Bryn Athyn's first man-up goal of 2020 with 1:38 left in the quarter with an assist from Wyatt King, who played the first 32:14 in goal before becoming a field player.

Perkett and Regan answered the Devils' Pat Stewart's third and final goal of the day with unassisted goals 42 seconds apart to bring the Lions within 15-4 with 10 minutes remaining.

Sean O'Donoghue had a game-high six points (three goals, three assists) to lead the FDU Florham offense, while Drew Gallagher recorded 11 ground balls and two caused turnovers.

King made five saves in goal before giving way to Tristan Banks, who stopped three shots in the final 27:46. FDU Florham's Adam Reifer was the winning goalie after making two saves in the first half.

Bryn Athyn (0-3) returns to General Ronald K. Nelson Field on Monday, March 9 to host Gordon College at 3 p.m.
