LANGHORNE, Pa. - Men's basketball traveled to the CSAC preseason number one ranked team for a road conference contest last night and fell 78-73 in a closely contested game.

How it Happened
- The first half was as even of a matchup as you could find with neither team able to build a lead bigger than four points.Â
- It was a defensive struggle as the teams went into the break with the Lions leading 28-27.
- The second half the tempo amped up a bit as the teams traded baskets for the first five minutes as Cairn regained a 40-37 lead.
- Second chance points would stretch Cairn's lead to six points 43-37, before the Lions would make another push to cut the deficit
- A Jayquan Williams 3-pointer in transition would tie the game at 49 a piece with 9:02 to go.Â
- Cairn would answer with a mini 4-0 run coming out of a timeout, but the Lions would respond to bring it back within 1 point
- Cairn would build their biggest lead of the game, 8 points, at the 4:27 marker taking a 64-56 lead off a layup from Josh Forker
- The Lions would get the game down to one possession off buckets from McCann and Williams as Cairn led 67-65 with 2:40 left.
- The Lions would not get any closer as Cairn closed out the game and would win 78-75
Analysis
- Lions were outrebounded by 15
- Bryn Athyn held a 19-15 advantage in turnovers but only managed to score 13 points off those turnovers
- The Lions did shoot 73% from the free throw line (19/26)
- Lions are now 1-7 and 0-2 in conference
- This is the fifth single digit loss of the season for the young Lions

"We consistently give ourselves an opportunity to win games. We are a few possessions away," Coach
Sean Westerlund said. "I think we are growing and learning how to win with a young team. I feel like our first two conference games we got a good look at the top of our league, and we know what we need to be better at."
