CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team closed out its road trip with an electric offensive performance, defeating Washington (MD) 103-85

Inside the Box Score
  • Jaryn McCann asserted himself on the glass, scoring 15 points and corralling 9 rebounds
  • Jamal Cannady Jr. racked up yet another impressive stat line: 26 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals
  • Freshman Will Little broke out, posting 19 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
  • Derreck Orr Jr. contributed an efficient 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting off the bench
How it happened
  • Bryn Athyn set the tone immediately with its press defense, garnering 5 steals in under 3 minutes to jump out to an early 9-2 lead.
  • Washington stayed within single digits of Bryn Athyn for a while, but rebounding and defense kept the Lions in the driver's seat.
  • With under eight minutes left in the first half, Cannady Jr. earned visits to the free throw line on back-to-back possessions, and the offense opened up. A few Shoremen misses and Lions makes later, and suddenly the Lions were up 13 with two minutes to go.
  • The lead snowballed to 15 (47-32 Lions) going into the break.
  • Washington knocked on the door a few times in the second half, but Bryn Athyn generally kept the door shut.
  • The Shoremen did cut the lead to just 3 points with 7:49 to go. However, McCann responded two minutes later with a highlight-worthy dunk that sealed the deal for the Lions.
  • Little added an exclamation point dunk of his own with 2:31 remaining to secure the win.
Coach's Corner
"I am so proud of our guys. This game was a game of growth for us. During the bubble year, we took two losses to Washington. For us to come out and play the way we did, I am justn extremely proud of my guys. Jaryn McCann and Will Little were athletic monsters all game. Derreck Orr is coming into form. We are stacking quality days together." Head coach Sean Westerlund said.
