Women's Lacrosse wins back-to-back CSAC Championships

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - Despite being down a starter, the women's lacrosse team secured the conference championship on Saturday, 10-8. 

Inside the Box Score
  • Allyson Paul turned in a clutch performance with three unassisted goals.
  • Sabrina Brock also turned in three scores. 
  • Shea Gormley put two in the net despite being receiving constant defensive attention from the Phoenix. 
How it happened
  • Paul put the Lions on the board with a free position goal in under two minutes. 
  • The Phoenix answered with two straight goals. Then Paul notched another free position goal to tie the game at 2-2. 
  • Wilson put two more on the board before the end of the first period.
  • Bryn Athyn countered in the second with three in a row to go up 5-4 at halftime.
  • The Phoenix scored right out of the break to tie the game again, and then put another one on the board to go up 6-5 with 22 minutes to go.
  • Then, the Lions closed the third quarter with three goals to build a 8-6 lead. 
  •  Wilson and Bryn Athyn traded punches, and ultimately the Lions held on to win the title. 
     Final: Bryn Athyn 10, Wilson 8 

Notes
  • Bryn Athyn outshot Wilson 25-18. 
  • The Lions forced 27 turnovers and won the ground ball battle 30-16.
  • This is women's lacrosse's second straight CSAC Championship.
