Ponton headed to Memphis for NCAA Academy Camp

BRYN ATHYN, Pa – Bryn Athyn College Head Women's Basketball Coach Travis Ponton is heading to Memphis later next week, having been selected as a coach at the 2023 NCAA College Basketball Academy.

This will be the first time the NCAA will hold the Academy for women's basketball prospects. Partnering with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the NCAA selected a coaching staff of Division II, Division III, NAIA, and Junior College coaches, as well as high school coaches from all over the country. 400 players from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes were selected to participate in the event by NCAA DI coaches as part of the Individual Pathway initiative.

"I'm so excited to be able to participate in this new event and really appreciate what the NCAA is doing to help continue to grow women's basketball," Ponton said. "It's an honor to be selected to coach alongside some of the top coaches in our game from all over the country, and of course, it will be another great opportunity to represent Bryn Athyn College on a national stage. I can't wait to get to Memphis and get rolling."

Bryn Athyn is coming off its first ever back-to-back Colonial States Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament appearances, and the Lions seem poised to continue their winning ways as the CSAC teams transition into the United East this year in Ponton's 4th full season at the helm. Ponton is no stranger to the WBCA, having been named a WBCA Thirty Under 30 Award recipient in his career and having served as a guest speaker at two WBCA Conventions at the NCAA Final 4, and has once been named WHoopDirt.com NCAA DIII National Coach of the week in his time here.
