BRONX, N.Y. - The men's volleyball team kicked off the 2025 season on the road in a tri-match against New York opponents Pratt Institute and host Lehman College.

• Bryn Athyn defeated Pratt, 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 25-22)
• Bryn Athyn falls in five sets to Lehman, 2-3 (20-25, 26-24, 22-25, 25-17, 15-8)

Lions vs Pratt - Inside the Box Scores

• In his first college match, Freshman Miles Shepard posted a double-double with 23 kills, 10 digs, 3 assists, and 1 block.
• Bryan Choute tallied a double-double while dominating with 22 kills on .348 attacking, 10 digs, and an assist.
• Laban Genzlinger recorded 27 assists, 2 aces, and 2 digs.
• Freshman setter Doston Dosmatov tabbed 15 assists and 3 digs in his debut. 
• Adan Rodriguez-Sapien finished the match with 9 digs.
• Freshman Napoleon Pizarro-Lind slammed home 3 aces in his first college match.

TEAM STATS:

• The Lions 51 kills on .256 outperformed Pratt's 33 kills on .189 attacking
• Bryn Athyn rebounded from a low offensive performance in the second set to hit 29 kills on .343 attacking in the third and fourth sets combined.

Lions vs Lehman - Inside the Box Scores

• Miles Shepard finished his epic first day of collegiate play by posting another double-double with 23 kills, 12 digs, 6 blocks, and 3 assists.
• Bryan Choute fought through leg cramps to contribute 14 kills, 7 digs, and 3 aces on an efficient .231 attacking.
• Laban Genzlinger recorded 28 assists and 4 digs. 
• Doston Dosmatov showed strong defensive effort to notch 12 digs. 
• Adan Rodriguez-Sapien provided a strong presence in serve receive and picked up 10 digs
   

TEAM STATS

• The Lions 14% attacking on 43 kills was more efficient than Lehman's 10% attacking on 50 kills. 
• Bryn Athyn generated more blocks (7 BS, 8 BA) than Lehman (1 BS, 8 BA) 

Coach's Corner

• "We traveled with a smaller roster due to injury and illness, so we knew we needed everyone with us to really show up. I was happy we overcame the serving errors to be more effective against Pratt. We had our chance for a sweep of Lehman and missed the opportunity, which needs to be a learning experience for this group. I thought Lehman turned it on when they needed to, and we ran out of gas on a long first day. We will get back to full force and move forward from here." - Head Coach Jason Barshinger
