OT thriller lifts Men's Basketball over Valley Forge

BRYN ATHYN. Pa. - The men's basketball team survived an overtime thriller to defeat Valley Forge; 80-79. 

Inside the Box Score
  • Isaac Marshall was a driving force on his way to a double-double; 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists.
  • Will Little added his own 15 points to combine with 4 rebounds and 4 blocks on the evening.
  • Jalen Parker added 13 points and 7 rebounds. 
  • Keith Bullock Jr. contributed 11 points and 7 assists.
  • Jalen Jackson flirted with a triple double attaining 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. 
  • K'Mari Smith provided a spark off the bench scoring 6 points and 5 rebounds in just 18 minutes. 
How it Happened
  • The Patriots came out on a 7-3 run forcing the Lions to call timeout.
  • After 10 minutes of play Bryn Athyn was down 20-25. 
  • The visitors then went on a 11-2 run giving them the lead; 36-22
  • Bryn Athyn came roaring back with a few paint touches and scores to cut the lead to 7 before halftime. 
  • In the 2nd half; Bryn Athyn came out swinging through transition buckets and defensive prowess.
  • The game was all tied at 52 with a little over 11 minutes left in regulation. 
  • A layup by K'Mari Smith would give Bryn Athyn their first lead of the night at the 10 minute mark.
  • Both teams would exchange buckets the remainder of the half. 
  • With just 11 seconds on the clock; Isaiah Reece of UVF would hit a jump shot forcing the game into overtime.
  • In OT; Jalen Parker sealed the 80-79 win with a driving layup with 40 seconds remaining. 
  • The Patriots were unable to convert on the other end.

  • "Tonight we didn't have our best stuff, but we found the guts to win the game. Valley Forge helped us see where we need to continue to grow, but we'd much rather learn these lessons in wins. We're 4-1 with a share of first place in the league right now. We will have another opportunity to be measured in a hostile environment at Rosemont Saturday."          -- Head Coach Sean Westerlund
