Men's Basketball secure regular season crown

MIDDLETOWN, Pa - The Lions came out winners of yet another dogfight on Thursday, defeating the Penn State Lions of Harrisburg 65-63.

Inside the Box Score
  • Jakir Hampton couldn't be stopped on his way to 18 points and 3 steals. 
  • Isaac Marshall was essential off the bench 15 points, 3 3-pointers made,and 4 rebounds 
  • Jalen Jackson amassed 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists. 
  • Keith Bullock Jr. was everywhere he needed to be on his way to 9 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals,and 5 assists. 
How it Happened
  • Things did not look good for Bryn Athyn early, as they found themselves down 13-8 after seven minutes. 
  • The visiting lions quickly snapped out of it and had the game tied up at 13 with about eleven minutes remaining.
  • PSU ended the half on a 13-6 run to take a 7 point lead at halftime. 
  • Penn State came out of half time still being aggressive, pushing the lead to 14 within the first five minutes. 
  • Shots then started to fall for the Bryn Athyn as they cut the lead to 2 with a little over twelve minutes left. 
  • The home team refused to give up the lead by forcing missed shots and converting transition hoops.
  • PSU found themselves up 9 with six minutes remaining. 
  • A 3pt, followed by a steal, transition layup and 2 made free-throws all by Isaac Marshall gave Bryn Athyn the lead 60-59 with two minutes remaining
  • PSU would then convert a layup to take the lead back.
  • A steal and go ahead bucket with one minute remaining by Keith Bullock Jr. sealed the win for Bryn Athyn Lions.
  • Bryn Athyn wins 65-63.

Coach's Corner
  • "This was a program win for our group. We went into perennial conference favorite Harrisburg and won on the road to lock up the regular season championship. We made plays down the stretch after being down 15 in the second half and down 7 with 3 minutes to go. The job isn't finished yet. We're onto Gallaudet"  - Head Coach Sean Westerlund.

  • Bryn Athyn trailed since the 17 minute mark of the first half and didn't take the lead until 2 minutes remained in the game. 
  • Bryn Athyn is now 16-8 overall, 14-1 in United East play
  • The win at Harrisburg secured the #1 seed and the regular season championship for the men's basketball
  • This is the first regular season championship in school history
