Coaches Corner
  • "What a game and what an ending, a court-storming overtime buzzer beater in the Field House! Absolutely electric moment, and for it to happen on Senior Day, from one of our seniors Alayna Day, I'm not sure you could script that any better. That play is what our program is all about, fight until the final buzzer, and a player just making a play. We got a lot of that today from a lot of people, and we needed it against a red hot and well-coached Gallaudet team. Our 5 seniors started the game and set the tone from the tip. Alayna finished with the double-double, Zhymani Smith once again just made huge plays, 7 steals and 4 assists to go along with the 18 points, and Xion Spence was in full attack mode, 12 points and 8 rebounds doing what the team needs her to do. Amber Souffrant and Britney Fils gave us a ton of energy and their veteran poise and leadership was huge. We had a packed field house today, and to see our fans and family members rush the court and celebrate with our team, that's one of the most beautiful things in college basketball. We are happy to have finished the regular season tied for 3rd in the United East, which is no small accomplishment in the largest conference in all of NCAA DIII. We look forward to opening up the conference tournament at home Wednesday night in the field house!" - Head Coach Travis Ponton

Notes:

  • The Lions are tied for 3rd place as they enter the United East Conference tournament.
