Coaches Corner
  • "Our defensive effort tonight was off the charts. Holding a team scoreless the first 11-plus minutes of a playoff game is special. We cleaned up on the defensive glass consistently too, something we knew we had to do against a scrappy, blue collar team in Cedar Crest who has so much size. Offensively, we were prepared for what we were going to see, and we just stayed in attack mode. Our shooting percentages were a byproduct of that, 50% from beyond the arc on only 10 attempts shows smart basketball. Zhymani Smith and Alayna Day  did what they do, Xola Wade was back on top of her game and gave us a huge spark, and I loved the aggressiveness we got from our front court players as an entire group. For our team to come out and play like this after the adversity we've faced this week with the power outage and having to travel around Philadelphia just to practice, that's really remarkable and a testament to our culture. Now it's off to Williamsport for the next round, you have to love tournament time in college basketball!" -Head Coach Travis Ponton
