Bryn Athyn, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's tennis team fell 9-0 to Penn State Abington in their inaugural match on Tuesday afternoon.
In doubles action, the team of Beth Earle and Katya Grafska had a tight match with the Nittany Lions at the No. 1 spot, losing the contest 8-4. Holly Adams and Megan Reinprecht fell 8-0 at second doubles. Michaela Boyesen and Emily Ball dropped 8-0 at the No. 3 spot.
"Katya and Beth played very well today," Bryn Athyn Head Coach Joseph said. "They are definitely the most comfortable doubles team we have right now so it will be interesting to see how they play this coming weekend against York College."
Nittany Lions swept the singles action, but the Lions did not go down without a fight with Earle and Nittany Lion's Mockus battling to a third set tiebreaker decision at the No. 1 spot, 3-6, 7-5, 10-5. Grafska came back in the second set but fell 6-0, 7-5 (7-5) at the second singles spot. Adams and Katrina Hughes dropped 6-0, 6-1 at the third and sixth singles position respectably. Megan Reinprecht and Palesa Mphaste fell 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 and No. 5 spot.
"I am very proud of team, they all battled on the court, even if the scores do not show it. With our first match under our belt, we look towards York College this coming Saturday." expressed Coach Joseph
The Lions head on the road to face the Spartans of York College this coming Saturday. The match is set for 12:00 pm.
