Wells Slips Past Women's Lacrosse 13-12

Bryn Athyn, PA. – Today was senior recognition day, as the women's lacrosse team hosted Wells in their final home game of the season. The Lions and Express battled back and forth throughout the game until three unanswered goals by Wells secured their 13-12 victory over the Lions.Today the Lions honored their seniors in their final home game of the season.

Seniors Anna Skabkin, Bianca Feliciano, Gage Blair and Emma Gross were all honored before the start of the game today.The Lions and the Express exchanged goals early in the game, with neither team giving an inch to the other. Two goals by the Lion's Michelle Bedford and one goal by Sabrina Colbridge had the Lions tied with Wells at 3-3. Wells took a 4-3 lead and then the Lion's Emma Gross tied the game up again with an unassisted goal.

The Lions took the lead, 5-4 when Miranda Hyatt scored on a free position shot. Wells then scored five unanswered goals between the 14 minute and 4-minute mark. Goals by Emma Gross and Sabrina Colbridge helped get the Lions back in the game getting the Lions to within three, 10-7.The Lions then opened up the second half with five unanswered goals of their own. Michelle Bedford and Miranda Hyatt scored two goals apiece during the 5-0 run, putting the Lions ahead 12-10 with 17:47 left in the game.

The Lions attack then went quiet, and Wells took advantage, scoring three unanswered goals to close out the game and securing the victory for the Express, 13-12.

The Lions were led by Michelle Bedford with four goals and five groundballs. Sabrina Colbridge and Miranda Hyatt both added three goals apiece for the Lions.

Bryn Athyn goalkeeper Anja Weisser made nine saves on 22 shots.

The Lions move to 2-8 on the year and 1-6 in the conference. The Lions close out the season on the road as they travel to take on Lancaster Bible on Friday, April 29th and St. Elizabeth on Saturday, April 30th.
