PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Bryn Athyn Men's Ice Hockey suffered their first conference loss of the season against Uiniversity of Pennsylvania, losing 5-3 at the 1923 arena.
The Lions had goals from senior, Zach Pamaylaon and freshman, Aidan Esack.
During the opening period Bryn Athyn did not make any goals but had twelve shots on goal. UPenn scored twice on Michal Nabozny out of twenty-three shots on goal, giving the opponent a 2-0 lead going into the second period.
Entering into the second many penalties were called on both teams but the Lions used them to the best of their advantage. Scoring first for Bryn Athyn was Pamaylaon with an assist from freshman, Anthony Basile with just under four minutes remaining in the period. Shortly after Penn made two consecutive goals on Nabozny making the score 4-1 at the end of the second.
Going into the third period the lions were ready for a comeback. Scoring the second goal for the lions, Esack made an impressive shot with an assist from Pamaylaon. Not long after Pamaylaon made his second goal with an assist from Sean Ford and Gabe Beres. This was a big move in the right direction for the lions, making the score 4-3. Unfortunately, with just seconds left on the clock Penn scored on an empty net.
A hard fought game for the Lions, but a good future ahead. Go Lions!
