Women's lacrosse blitz Centenary in season opening win

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn women's lacrosse team picked up first win in their season and Colonial States Athletic Conference opener by the score of 16-3. 
  • Payton Gormley led the Lions in scoring with eight goals, four ground balls, and one assist
  • Tori Titano shined in her Lions debut with four goals and two ground balls
  • Nicole McCurdy added one goal, four assists, and eight draw controls in her debut as a Lion
How it Happened
  • Tori Titano got the scoring going 95 seconds into the game off of an assist from freshman Nicole McCurdy. Madison Barofski answered back for Centenary with a goal of her own at the 22:21 mark of the first half. Bryn Athyn rattled off four unanswered with Payton Gormley scoring her first of the day, Paulina Storck adding two of the goals, and Tori Titano netting her second of four goals for the match. The score stood 5-1 with 11:03 left in the first half. Kierra Doyle got in the mix for Centenary scoring on a free position goal to cut the Lion lead to 5-2. The Lions hit back with three more unanswered goals to close the half with a lead of 8-2. 
  • .Centenary opened up the scoring in the second frame on a goal from Christine Manser two and half minutes into the half. 8-3 would be the closest the Cyclones got to the Lions. Bryn Athyn scored the last eight goals of the game with Payton Gormley leading the charge with five second half goals, Chloe Levan scored two goals, and Tori Titano netted another goal to bring the final score to 16-3.

  • Bryn Athyn outshot Centenary 38-12
  • The teams were even in draw controls with 10 a piece
  • The Lions held an advantage in ground balls securing 22 compared to the Cyclones 18
For the Opposition

  • Gormley's eight goals ties her career high when she scored eight goals against Centenry on April 20, 2019. Her eight goals are tied for the second highest single game scoring output from a women's lacrosse player in program history.

  • Centenary drops to 0-1 on the year and 0-1 in conference play.
