Women's lacrosse drops game on the road

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Bryn Athyn women's lacrosse team dropped a road game at Notre Dame by the score of 17-3. 
  • Nicole McCurdy scored one goal and added one assist and four ground balls in her second game of her young career.
  • Paulina Storck put together a strong performance with one goal and one assist.
  • Tori Titano scored in her second consecutive game registering one goal. 
How it Happened
  • The first ten minutes of the game was a back and forth affair for the two teams who stood atop of the CSAC standings. The Gators got on the board first with a goal from Hannah Mullaney 48 ticks into the contest. Vanessa Dunn would added one of her three goals on the day three minutes later to make the score 2-0. Bryn Athyn finally settled in an answered back with a goal from freshman Nicole McCurdy off of an assist from junior Payton Gormley at the 24:10 mark of the first half. Dunn would answer back two and half minutes later to make the score 3-1. Less than a minute later freshman attack, Tori Titano, would get on the board at 20:38 mark to make it 3-2. After six minute scoring drought from both teams, Notre Dame rattled off five unanswered goals to close the half with an 8-2 lead. 
  • The second haf started quick again with three goals scored in the first four minutes. Notre Dame netted two more goals to start to half to build a 10-2 lead, but Paulina Storck broke the goal run to make the game a 10-3 score in the Gators favor. The Gators would take command of the game after that final goal from the Lions and score seven more goals to finish the game at a 17-3 score. 
Analysis
  • Gators out shot the Lions 23-14
  • Bryn Athyn edged Notre Dame in ground balls 15-14
  • The Lions had 12 turnovers compared to the Gators 8
For the Opposition
  • Kelsey Campbell led the Gators with four goals, four assists, and two ground balls. Hannah Mullaney, Katie Hawkins, and Vanessa Dunn all netted hat tricks. 
  • Marie Salas recorded nine saves in goal for Notre Dame. 
Notes
  • Nicole McCurdy continues her strong play as a play-making midfielder dishing out five assists in the first two games of the season.
  • Lions fall to 1-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference. 
  • Notre Dame (Md.) remains undefeated on the season and in conference at 2-0.
