Men's lacrosse wins in overtime to secure playoff spot

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - Men's lacrosse hosted Rosemont Ravens under the lights in what was a critical game with playoff implications. The two teams did not disappoint and the Lions came out on top 8-7 in overtime after a late goal from freshman Jamal White

Inside the Box Score How it Happened
  • The first period was an exciting opening frame for both teams. Bryn Athyn started the scoring first netting two goals in one minute from Ovecka off an assist from Mike Haas and Ragan scored his first goal of the game to give the Lions a 2-0 lead at the 9:22 mark. Rosemont would answer back with two of their own from Stephen McLaughlin and Brandon Krausse. With the score tied 2-2, Jamal White scored a late goal with 56 seconds left in the period to give the Lions a 3-2 lead. 
  • Rosemont came out strong in the second period scoring two consecutive goals to take a 4-3 lead, but Tim Ragan would not be denied tying the game 4-4 with under five left in the half. Both teams would play even and go into half with the score knotted at four goals apiece. 
  • The third period started much like the first and Rosemont dominated play outscoring the Lions 2-0 in the frame and giving the visiting teama 6-4 lead at the end of three. 
  • The Lions offense came alive in the fourth scoring three consecutive goals from White, Ovecka, and Nugent to give the Lions a 7-6 lead with just over five minutes to go. Rosemont would not go away quietly though. Mason Dennis tied the score at 7-7 with 3:00 to go in the game. Regulation would end with both teams even. 
  • In sudden death overtime, Jamal White came up big scoring the game winning goal with 1:35 left in the period and lifting the Lions to an 8-7 lead and a CSAC playoff spot.

With a playoff spot secured, Bryn Athyn will be back in action for senior day on on Saturday April 24 at 12 PM against Kean.
