Women's lacrosse win sixth in a row in a barnstormer against the Chargers

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn College Lions won their program record sixth game in a row in an absolute shootout against the visiting Lancaster Bible Chargers 17-16.

Inside the Box Score How it happened
  • The Chargers wasted no time in getting on the board after an opening draw control, LBC marched down the field to score 20 seconds into the game
  • Payton Gormley would even the score a minute later with a goal of her own and the teams would be off matching goal for goal until the quarter ended 6-5 in Lancaster Bible's favor.
  • The two teams would play even lacrosse in the second frame with both teams scoring four goals a piece. 
  • Shea Gormley would score a doozy of a goal to tie the game at 9 a piece when she ripped a shot going left to right to the top shelf of the cage.
  • Haltime score would be 10-9 in the Chargers favor
  • Gabby Lang would start a big third quarter for the Lions with her goal at the 10:52 mark to tie the game at 10-10
  • Lee Antwi, Kalie Soulsby, and Gormley would all score in the third quarter for the Lions and help the team build a 13-11 lead heading into the fourth quarter
  • Antwi would score again to open up the fourth quarter and give the Lions their biggest lead, 14-11.
  • Chargers came galloping back with three goals in 2:30 span to tie the game
  • The Gormley sisters would both score to give the Lions their lead back for good and Bryn Athyn would fend off a late charge from Lancaster Bible to win 17-16
