Men's Basketball fights in crucial CSAC game at Clarks Summit

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team put up a fight but ultimately fell to Clarks Summit University, 81-76.

Inside the Box Score
  • Jamal Cannady Jr. did everything Bryn Athyn could have asked for, exploding for 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
  • Jaryn McCann nearly snagged another double-double, amassing 10 points and 8 rebounds.
  • Will Little approached double-double territory as well, going for 9 points and 8 boards.
  • Jalen Cary provided a nice spark off the bench, totaling 9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
  • Noah Riley and Isaiah Cureton also excelled in their roles, scoring 7 points each off the pine.
How it happened
  • Bryn Athyn started out strong with a 9-4 run, fueled by forcing Clarks Summit turnovers.
  • Clarks Summit bounced back to go up 13-12 a little less than halfway through the first half, and that seesaw continued for most of the period.
  • The Lions closed the half with some unfortunate turnovers, and allowed the Defenders to go on a 13-2 run to close the half.
  • Clarks Summit started the second half strong, maintaining its big lead and growing it at points.
  • Cary and Cureton got Bryn Athyn back on track, and with 12 minutes to go, it was only a 4-point game.
  • Then Cannady and McCann brought the Lions in front with some good decision-making. As late as the 2-minute mark, the game was tied 74-74.
  • However, the Defenders closed the game out and won 81-76.
Coach's Corner
"We were sloppy with the ball and finishing possessions today. I'm proud of our guys for battling back to tie the game at 74 after being down 15 early in the second half. We're learning more and more it's difficult to win in conference play. We need to stack more quality possessions together." Head coach Sean Westerlund said.

Notes
  • Bryn Athyn went 22-for-26 (84.6%) on free throws.
  • The Lions committed a season-high 25 turnovers.
    • They also forced the Defenders to commit 19 turnovers.
  • Bryn Athyn is now 8-11 on the year and 2-6 in CSAC play.
  • Clarks Summit is now 4-4 in conference.
Up Next
  • Bryn Athyn hosts Valley Forge for their Hawaiian Shirt Game on Wednesday, February 1st at 8pm at Asplundh Field House.
